This month, we showcase Cooper Williams, class of 2019.  Cooper is also a Junior at Batesville High School and is an active young man. He plays tennis for the Bulldogs along with CYO basketball for the St. Louis Bruins.  He is actively involved in Young Life here in Batesville along with being a Wyld Life leader for Batesville Middle School.  He enjoys spending his free time fishing, hanging out with his friends, shooting guns, and spending time with his family. Cooper chose to write about the healing art of acupuncture and spent the last month or so researching the topic from its historic origins to where we are today in the realm of using it to heal the human body.

“Acupuncture is a practice that many people in the U.S. are unfamiliar with. However, acupuncture has flourished and widely expanded in the Western world over the past three to four decades. Acupuncture is a forgiving and extremely flexible science. When inserting needles and contacting the Qi (energy) along different points along the meridians, acupuncture will produce changes to the human body by transferring energy based off of where the needles were inserted.Acupuncture is only going to continue to grow and it is way more than just about the transferring of energy. I believe acupuncture is a safe, effective, and a very beneficial treatment. With a wide variety of points for needling, it is no surprise how effective acupuncture can be. Acupuncture helps to treat almost all conditions known to the world and can treat over 800 conditions with minimal side effects when being performed by a professional. Receiving acupuncture treatment not only helps to relax the body and increase your ability to heal, but it will also enhance your views on Western medicine and enhance the function of your body.”

Great job Cooper! Keep learning and growing your knowledge base on all aspects of health and wellness!
